Target audience & focus group


My target audience is teens and young adults around the ages 14-25. From personal experience at indie-rock concerts, the majority of the audiences are usually in or around this age range. This age range also have the largest rate of internet use, so if my music video is aimed at this age, it is likely to be more popular/gain more views and thus increase awareness and popularity of the artist and their upcoming album. I am not aiming this at any particular gender as I haven't found research to support that indie-rock is predominantly listened to by either gender.

I surveyed a group of 50 people (25 male, 25 female) aged 14-25 asking if they listen to any music in the indie-rock genre.
17 people stated that it was their favourite genre, while a further 31 people responded saying that they listen to indie-rock but it was not their favourite genre.

I also created a focus group with people from this age group to give feedback on the process and creative decisions for the music video, album digipak and magazine advertisement. I am working alone on this project, so the focus group could provide some valuable outside opinions and inputs.
